## Writesonic Review 2026: Pricing, Ratings, Real Limits

Live pricing checked, six review sources read, and the product pages captured by Niamh Cassidy. No paid account was used, and the page says so.

## Verdict

**Score: 6.6/10**

Writesonic began as a template-based AI writer and now sells itself as an AI search visibility platform with an article agent attached. In our October 2026 check, paid plans start at $79/month billed annually for 15 AI articles, which works out to $5.27 per article, and G2 shows 4.7/5 from 2,146 reviews. Verdict: 6.6/10. Strong ratings, but billing complaints and a steep entry price for solo writers.

**Quick scores:**

- Customer rating record: 8.5/10
- Pricing clarity: 7/10
- Fit for a writing workflow: 7/10
- Billing and support record: 5/10
- Value for solo writers: 5.5/10

**Pros:**

- G2 rates it 4.7/5 across 2,146 reviews and Capterra 4.8/5 across 2,102, with 85% and 80% of reviews at five stars
- Article Writer and AI visibility tracking share one login, so drafts and citation data sit in the same workspace
- The pricing page lists limits per tier: articles per month, prompts tracked, audits and seats

**Cons:**

- Entry price is $79/month billed annually for 15 articles, a steep step for a solo writer who only needs drafts
- The newest Trustpilot reviews we read (September 2026) are one-star cancellation and billing complaints
- A four-month G2 user reported bugs and slow support, and the vendor confirmed a one-day delay in AI bot traffic data

## How we verified this review

- **Version tested:** Live writesonic.com pricing page, Article Writer page and AI Visibility Tracker page, October 2026
- **Test period:** 2026-10-09 → 2026-10-10

**Test categories:** Live pricing verification, Product page capture, Cross-platform review aggregation, Recent complaint reading

This is a desk verification, not a paid-plan test. We did not subscribe and we ran no prompts, so there are no latency, hallucination or output-quality figures here. What we did: read the live pricing page, the Article Writer page and the AI Visibility Tracker page on October 9 and 10, 2026, captured our own screenshots of each, and read the public ratings and recent reviews on G2, Capterra, Trustpilot, TrustRadius and Product Hunt, plus Reddit thread excerpts. Every number comes from one of those pages on those dates, and the cost per article is our own division of the listed price by the listed article cap. The product screens shown are Writesonic's own sample workspaces, built on a demo brand, not our data.

## Should you buy this?

**YES if you...**

- Content or SEO teams that want AI answer tracking and article drafting under one login
- Agencies that need several projects, seats and site audits next to the writing tool
- Marketers who already watch whether ChatGPT or Gemini mention their brand and want to act on it

**NO if you...**

- Solo writers who only want a drafting assistant, since the cheapest paid tier is $79/month billed annually
- Anyone who needs month-to-month billing without the 20% annual discount logic
- Buyers who want to test output quality at length, since the only trial listed is 7 days

## What each Writesonic plan includes

Entry tier, one seat

- 15 AI articles per month
- 50 prompts tracked, 50 answers daily
- 10 site audits of 100 pages each
- 1 user, 1 project
- Standard email support

### Basic — $199/mo billed annually

- 25 AI articles per month
- 100 prompts tracked, 300 answers daily
- 20 site audits of 1,200 pages each
- 2 users, 1 project
- Up to 3 extra users at $50 each per month

### Growth — $399/mo billed annually *(Most popular)*

- 200 prompts tracked, 600 answers daily
- Sentiment analysis included
- Action Center trial: 5 off-page and 5 on-page actions a month

### Enterprise — Custom

Tailored to your scale

- All 8 AI platforms tracked
- Full Action Center and agentic workflows
- SSO/SAML, SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, GDPR
- Dedicated AI search strategist

**ROI breakdown:** Per article, Starter costs $5.27 ($79 / 15), Basic $7.96 ($199 / 25) and Growth $7.98 ($399 / 50), and that fee also pays for AI visibility tracking. The Growth add-on of 20 extra articles for $100/month is $5.00 per article.

**Hidden costs & gotchas:**

- Headline prices assume annual billing: the page shows a 20% saving, and G2 lists $249 and $499 as the monthly prices for Basic and Growth
- Extra seats cost $50 per user per month on Basic and Growth
- Only 3 AI platforms (ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews) are tracked below Enterprise, while all 8 need a custom plan
- AI search volume is limited to 5 one-time runs on Basic and Growth, and Looker Studio is Enterprise only
- A fair usage policy applies, as footnoted on the pricing page

## Customer ratings across five platforms

Ratings read on October 9 and 10, 2026. Reddit sentiment is covered in the write-up below because it has no star score.

*Inside the platform*

## The Article Writer is a six-step pipeline on paper

Writesonic's own sample workspace shows a draft moving through audience and demand, SERP research, positioning, multi-step writing, multi-expert review and a humanizer pass. The product page describes it as 100+ steps and 11 expert frameworks per article. We could not run it, so treat this as the vendor's description of the flow, not a measured result.

- Two modes: write from your uploaded brand brief and docs, or from deep web research
- Signals panel with E-E-A-T review, information gain and a count of verified citations
- Publish targets shown for WordPress and other CMS tools

*The other half of the product*

## AI visibility tracking is now the main pitch

The headline product today is a tracker that records how often your brand appears in AI answers and which pages those answers cite. The sample dashboard below splits citations by source type, and the pricing tiers are built around prompts tracked, not words written. For a writing team, that changes what you are buying.

- Citation source breakdown: owned, competitor, third party and social
- Most cited webpages table with a Mentions you column
- Prompt counter in the header, 11083 of 100000 in the demo account

## What we measured

- **Entry plan price:** $79 /month billed annually *(Starter, 15 AI articles per month, from writesonic.com/pricing)*
- **Cost per article, Starter:** $5.27 per article *($79 divided by 15 articles per month)*
- **Cost per article, Growth:** $7.98 per article *($399 divided by 50 articles per month)*
- **Annual billing discount:** 20% *(Shown on the pricing page toggle)*
- **G2 rating:** 4.7 /5 *(2,146 reviews, 1,833 at five stars and 14 at one star)*
- **Capterra rating:** 4.8 /5 *(2,102 reviews, 1,682 at five stars)*
- **Trustpilot rating:** 4.6 /5 *(5,764 reviews, only 9 in the last 12 months)*
- **TrustRadius score:** 9.9 /10 *(Only 7 reviews, too few to lean on)*
- **Product Hunt rating:** 5.0 /5 *(Only 2 reviews)*
- **G2 count quoted on Writesonic's pages:** 2,031 *(G2 itself shows 2,146, so the vendor badge lags the live count)*

> Open the Article Writer page and read the workspace mockup from top to bottom.

The sample workspace shows a 4,200-word draft titled The 9 Best Email Marketing Tools for 2026 moving through six steps, from Audience and demand to Humanizer and gate. The signals panel reads information gain 84% and 12 verified citations. It is Writesonic's illustration, so it shows the intended flow and says nothing about real draft quality.

> Scroll the AI Visibility Tracker capabilities section and note the sample figures.

The demo shows 7-day visibility of 49.8% on Claude, 44.2% on Gemini, 53.7% on ChatGPT and 41.5% on Google AI Overviews, and a top cited domains panel where reddit.com takes 35.9% share. Sample data again, but it shows the product's core claim: AI answers lean on pages you do not own.

> Read the plan table on the pricing page, then divide each price by its monthly article cap.

Starter lands at $5.27 per article, Basic at $7.96 and Growth at $7.98. The cost per article rises as you move up, because the higher tiers pay for prompt tracking, audits and seats rather than more writing.

## Pros and cons

### Pros

- **Ratings are strong where buyers compare software** — G2 shows 1,833 five-star and 268 four-star reviews out of 2,146, and Capterra shows 1,682 five-star and 363 four-star out of 2,102. Reviewers repeatedly cite ease of use and fast first drafts.
- **Limits are printed on the plan table** — Articles per month, prompts tracked, audit pages, seats and projects are listed for every tier, which makes the per-article math possible without a sales call.
- **Drafting and tracking share one workspace** — A G2 reviewer in financial services preferred it to Peec, Profound, Otterly and Searchable partly because SEO and answer-engine work sit in the same tool.

### Cons

- **The entry price is high for writers who only draft** — Starter is $79/month billed annually for 15 articles. An August 2025 Trustpilot reviewer described a $39/month Lite plan with 40 credits, so the cheapest paid tier has moved up since.
- **Billing and cancellation complaints are the loudest negative theme** — Trustpilot reviews dated between August 2025 and September 2026 describe renewals after cancellation, refund refusals on annual plans and unanswered support emails. Trustpilot's own panel notes the company has not replied to negative reviews.
- **Reviewers report bugs and slow support in the visibility tools** — A four-month G2 user wrote that new prompts cannot be added after onboarding, some charts do not populate and edits in the writer are appended at the bottom with no versioning. Writesonic replied that the one-day AI bot traffic delay is a known constraint.
- **Draft quality still needs an editing pass** — G2 reviewers across 2026 say output needs fact-checking, repeats itself on technical topics and can sound generic. In the G2 pros and cons tags, Inaccuracy appears 12 times and Content Issues 13 times.

## Final verdict

**Score: 6.6/10**

Writesonic is now a tool for teams that care about being cited by AI answers and want an article agent in the same subscription. On that brief, the ratings are good and the tier table is easy to read. At $79/month billed annually for 15 articles, it is a poor fit for a freelancer who just wants a first-draft assistant.

The score of 6.6 is the plain average of the five dimensions above. It is held back by the billing and support record, and by the fact that we could not test output quality without paying. If you try it, use the 7-day trial on a real article, read the cancellation terms before choosing an annual plan, and set a calendar reminder before renewal.

Recommended for: content and SEO teams tracking AI visibility. Not recommended for: solo writers on a small budget, or anyone who needs monthly billing.

**Dimensional scoring:**

- **Customer rating record:** 8.5/10 — G2 4.7/5 and Capterra 4.8/5 on 4,248 combined reviews
- **Pricing clarity:** 7/10 — Limits are listed, but annual billing sets the headline
- **Fit for a writing workflow:** 7/10 — Article agent included, but not the main product
- **Billing and support record:** 5/10 — Cancellation disputes in recent Trustpilot reviews
- **Value for solo writers:** 5.5/10 — $5.27 per article at the cheapest tier

## FAQ

### Is Writesonic worth it for a solo writer?

Usually not at the current entry price. Starter is $79/month billed annually for 15 AI articles, or $5.27 per article. A solo writer who only needs first drafts will find cheaper assistants, and G2 reviewers themselves list price as the top complaint tag.

### How much does Writesonic cost in 2026?

The pricing page lists Starter at $79, Basic at $199 and Growth at $399 per month, all billed annually, plus a custom Enterprise plan. The page shows a 20% annual saving, and G2 lists $249 and $499 as monthly prices for the upper two tiers.

### Does Writesonic have a free trial?

The homepage and article writer page advertise a 7-day free trial, and the pricing page says no credit card is needed to start. One G2 reviewer called 7 days too short to judge the product and asked for 14.

### What do customers say about Writesonic?

G2 averages 4.7/5 from 2,146 reviews and Capterra 4.8/5 from 2,102. Trustpilot averages 4.6/5 from 5,764 reviews, but only 9 are from the last 12 months and the newest ones we read are one-star billing complaints.

### Is Writesonic still an AI writing tool?

Partly. The article writer is still in every paid plan, with 15, 25 or 50 articles a month depending on the tier. The homepage, though, leads with AI search visibility tracking, and the plans are sized by prompts tracked.

### Which AI engines can Writesonic track?

Starter, Basic and Growth track ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. Enterprise tracks all 8 platforms listed on the pricing page, including Perplexity, Claude, Grok, Microsoft Copilot and Google AI Mode.

### Can you add extra users to a Writesonic plan?

Yes, on Basic and Growth. The compare table lists up to 3 extra users on Basic and up to 2 on Growth, at $50 per user per month. Starter has no additional users.

### What are the main Writesonic alternatives?

For drafting, Jasper and Rytr come up most often, with G2 ratings of 4.7/5 from 1,318 and 820 reviews. For research-led briefs, Frase scores 4.8/5 on G2 from 311 reviews.
